Then it should leave you (and your system) alone! I bought an $18 Belkin external keyboard. It worked in parallel with the builtin keyboard. I did not need to install any software to get the external keyboard to work, it just worked right after being plugged in. I did not need to disable the internal keyboard. The touchpad is not part of the internal keyboard, and I used it as normal.

However, it’s not necessary if you want to use the external keyboard you can easily use it without disabling the built-in keyboard in Windows and Mac OS X.

Sometimes due to MacBook keyboard cleaning some key button stop working and you’ve to purchase an external new MacBook keyboard.

But before plug-in the external apple keyboard you’ve to disable the built-in keyboard on your Mac OS X computer.

Using an apple script you can also disable the keyboard on Mac OS X computers. However this some users complain this script doesn’t work for them.

To Disable Keyboard :

sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBTopCase.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBTCKeyboard.kext/

To Re-Install Keyboard :

sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBTopCase.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBTCKeyboard.kext
